Meeting Fitness Guru Jorge Cruise

Ryan Cameron With Jorge CruiseToday I had the opportunity to meet fitness guru Jorge Cruise today. Jorge is the author of several books including the “8 Minutes In The Morning” series of exercise books, “The 3 Hour Diet,” and his newest book, “Body At Home: A Simple Plan to Lose 10 Pounds.”

Jorge’s latest work has been in regards to a book he’s writing called “The Belly Fat Cure” which is set to be released to the public tentatively at the end of the year or very early next year. Jorge is currently offering a free special report on his website at JorgeCruise.com which outlines some of the basics of the program. According to Jorge’s research it seems waist circumference is more an indicator of poor health than the actual amount of weight. And there are two big contributors to belly fat, high sugar intake and low fiber intake. It is well worth your time checking out JorgeCruise.com to get a copy of this special report to read about it yourself.

My New Favorite Burger From In-N-Out’s Secret Menu

in_n_out_double_lettuce_wrapI’d like to introduce you to my new favorite hamburger from In-N-Out Burger. It is called a “Double Meat Protein Style With Ketchup, Mustard, & Pickles” and it’s from In-N-Out Burger’s “Secret Menu.”

For those not familiar with In-N-Out Burger, they are a chain of fast food restaurants that started out at roughly the same time as the McDonald Brothers opened their first hamburger stand. Both companies started out very similar, but how they proceeded into the future from there is about as different as they come. Unlike McDonald’s, In-N-Out Burger is a family run company, they do not have any shareholders, and they do not franchise any of their locations. Being a smaller company that focuses on quality, they’ve only expanded their reach California into the neighboring states of Nevada, Arizona, and Utah. And they’ve achieved such a cult like status that their burgers are often considered a Southern California delicacy.

Additionally, their menu has remained virtually unchanged since the company first opened its doors. Their burger selection is a choice of three, a hamburger, a cheeseburger, and their signature sandwich, the “Double Double” which is a double cheeseburger with two slices of cheese. They also offer French Fries, and the traditional fare of beverage choices, sodas, coffee, teas, lemonades, and milkshakes made from real ice cream. The company prides itself on the fact the company doesn’t own a single freezer ensuring nothing but fresh products. In fact, their French Fries are sliced and diced in the store from real potatoes.

Star Trek Movie Prequel Comics as an iPhone Application

Star Trek PrequelLike many other Star Trek fans, I am anxiously awaiting the relaunch of Star Trek that is set to happen on May 8th, 2009 with the new film by Director J.J. Abrams. The new filmed version, simply called “Star Trek” with no other subtitle or even a number (it’s the 11th Star Trek film for the record.)

The new film features a band new cast of actors playing younger versions of the Original Series cast. Only Leonard Nimoy from the original cast makes an appearance in the film. My best guess so far is that the story somehow involves some time travel allowing both Leonard Nimoy and Zachary Quinto to play the role of Spock in the same film. Oh course, this is speculation on my part, so please don’t read into it that I have any insider knowledge. For the most part I’ve been avoiding press about it as I really want to enjoy it on the big screen and I may even go see the IMAX version as well.

To get ready for the release of the new film, Paramount in association with IDW Publishing and iVerse Media to create an interactive comic book prequel to the film. The prequel comic sets out to bridge the “Star Trek: The Next Generation” universe we last saw in the film “Star Trek: Nemesis” with the new “Star Trek” film by introducing the character of “Nero” who appears to be the Romulan antagonist of the new movie played by Eric Bana.

Susan Boyle – The Newest Poster Child For The Law Of Attraction

Susan Boyle Proves Britain's Got TalentIf you ever needed to see a poster child for The Law of Attraction at work Susan Boyle is it. As April 11th started, the world outside of Susan’s hometown of Bathgate, a rapidly growing town in West Lothian in Scotland had no knowledge of Susan Boyle. By the end of the day all of Britain was a buzz with Susan Boyle and within days, the world is all a buzz with Susan. In less than a week’s time she’s gone from an unemployed, lonely woman with a cat named Pebbles, to instant celebrity even rumored to have been invited to appear on The Oprah Winfrey Show and in talks for a record deal with Simon Cowell’s record label all thanks to a song from the musical, “Les Misérables” called “I Dreamed A Dream”, Simon Cowell’s “Britain’s Got Talent” program on ITV, and the magic of YouTube.

Neil Midgley of Britain’s Telegraph described Susan’s unassuming appearance as a “podgy woman with a frumpy frock, a wiry hairdo and heavy brows” leaving the audience and probably the judges to assume Britain was about to be treated to a performance to be mocked much like William Hung‘s appearance on “American Idol” in 2004. With the audience snickering and the judges barely able to hold back their laughter at the notion this woman who wants to sound like Elaine Paige. Well perhaps it’s just better to watch what happened. Play the video below and witness for yourself what happened in seven minutes on “Britain’s Got Talent.”

Pandora Internet Radio – Best iPhone & iPod Touch Application

Pandora AppOne of my favorite applications that I’ve been using on my iPod Touch has been the Pandora Internet Radio application. Despite having a collection of over 12,000+ songs on my computer to put on my iPod at any time, I sometimes get bored with the music I already have. Perhaps it’s just the knowledge that there’s no chance of hearing anything new which creates the boredom, but in any case, sometimes random play is just not enough.

Well, the folks at Pandora have just the cure for the boredom, it’s their Pandora Internet Radio which is available both online for PCs and Macs to access through Pandora’s Website and the application they have made available for iPhones and iPod Touch. All you need to do is specify an artist or even pick a specific song, and Pandora’s Internet Radio will build a playlist of similar songs from similar sounding artists and you instantly have access to the world’s most perfect radio station, the one custom created just for you and your mood at that moment.

Skype Debuts On The iPhone and iPod Touch

Skype Application For The iPhone and iPod TouchSkype officially made it’s debut in the iTunes Application Store recently. To say it was a highly anticipated application would be the understatement of the year. Some reports have indicated that the application was downloaded over a million times in the first two days it was available, approximately one download every six seconds to put it in perspective.

What’s so special about Skype? If you haven’t heard of it, it’s a Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP) phone service. It’s major claim to fame is it’s ability to allow users to call one another on their computers for free anywhere in the world. Skype can also be used to dial landline phones all over the globe for incredibly cheap phone rates. Calls to mobile phones can be made as well, but outside of the US and Canada, calls to mobile phones elsewhere costs a little more than calling a landline.

Well now that Skype has officially made their debut on the iPhone and iPod Touch, now there’s another avenue for making calls from these devices. In the case of the iPod Touch (2nd Generation only due to the 1st Generation not having microphone support) it brings the ability to make phone calls over a Wi-Fi network to a device not designed to make calls. I decided to pick up one of Apple’s headphones with a built in microphone that’s supports the recording ability the iPod Touch supports and give it a try.

Taxes, Taxes, Taxes

TaxesWith tomorrow’s deadline for taxes to be filed with the Internal Revenue Service (aka the dreaded IRS), I’m lamenting that I usually have my taxes done by now and the refund already long deposited in my account. This last year I started a business and have been getting my records ready for the itemized deductions. It’s been a long process that wouldn’t have been so bad if I hadn’t been putting it off. As Raymond Aaron, one of my mentors says, we only procrastinate on the things we don’t really want to do anyway. How true that is.

I’m almost done with my taxes and just looking forward to being done with it. I can’t wait for my refund but all the paperwork has to be completed first. So all my wonderful readers out there will have to make due with a shorter than usual post today. To those already done with their taxes, have a drink to celebrate and laugh at those of us who procrastinated.

My celebratory cocktail is being chilled as I type, so back to the taxes so can enjoy it later today.

Funny And Offensive T-Shirts At TShirtHell.com

T-Shirt Hell - Money For RentA good friend of mine pointed me to a website that makes some pretty darn funny t-shirts. As someone who can appreciate a t-shirt that makes people laugh when they read it, I was just rolling with laughter when I saw the shirts offered by T-Shirt Hell.

No what T-Shirt Hell offers, pushes the envelope in terms of funny. In fact, a lot of the shirts they offer are just downright offensive. Some shirts push the envelope through the use of strong language while others use offensive stereotypes, and some just push the boundaries of sexual innuendo. It seems no stone is left unturned even poking fun at pop culture icons like Ronald McDonald, The Smurfs, Disney, Han Solo, and Pillsbury Dough Boy. Even Al Gore, Barack Obama, and Wal-Mart get skewered. (I’m guessing all the George W. Bush ones have been retired?)

Star Trek: The Next Generation Cast Reunites On Family Guy

Family Guy - Star Trek: The Next Generation EpisodeOne of my all time favorite shows is “Star Trek: The Next Generation.” Well thanks to following Wil Wheaton on Twitter, I found out about the episode of “Family Guy” that was going to air. I don’t pay attention to current shows on television so without being online, I never would have known about it.

I gotta love modern technology though. I didn’t catch the broadcast of the episode on television, I waited until the day after the show aired, and then downloaded it to my
Roku Netflix Box using the new access to the Amazon On Demand feature. For $1.99 I got to see one episode commercial free, and since I bought the episode, I can watch it anytime I want. I thought that’s pretty cool. The Roku Netflix Box keeps getting better all the time, what a great investment.
