ABBAMAIL Closes Down After Nearly 12 Years

It was a bit of bittersweet sad news today when Graeme Read and Grant Whittingham decided to shut down both ABBAMAIL.com and the ABBAMAIL mailing list which has been a big part of my life for almost 12 years now. The closing was just under three months shy of ABBAMAIL’s 12th birthday.

ABBAMAIL wasn’t so much just a bunch of ABBA fans as it was a living, breathing community. While in the late 1990’s, a lot of online fan communities consisted of lists, fairly impersonal message boards, and fairly simple webpages, I personally was a member of a quite a number of them for various hobbies and interests. And it seemed without fail that as soon as the subjects of the list seemed to disappear off the pop culture radar, so did the people in these communities and many of them fade out and disappeared. ABBAMAIL was different.

Unlike any other forum I had been a part of from the same era, ABBAMAIL was quite a unique beast. A lot of that is due to the community’s founders, Graeme Read and Grant Whittingham, who fostered a true sense of community, simply being an ABBA fan was something all of us on the list had in common, but for Graeme and Grant that simply wasn’t enough. Members of the list were expected to introduce themselves and share that person behind behind the letters that make up our names.

Use Mind Movies To Invoke The Law Of Attraction

I just saw this interview of Ryan Higgins from Australia that could change the way you manifest anything you want into your life. You really do have to see this:

http://mindmovies.com/vid1/

You see, he figured out this powerful way to tap into the Law of Attraction that practically guarantees you’ll get whatever you want.

And the surprising thing about it is it is SUPER easy to do, you can start doing it right now…and here’s the really cool part…

He’s GIVING it away! For FREE

Ryan obviously understands abundance, because he’s practicing it in a very big way here

http://mindmovies.com/vid1/

So what is it about Aussies anyway? They seem to totally have this figured out, especially when you consider that the land down under is where we got Rhonda Byrne who is responsible for the movie and book, “The Secret.” I’m sure you’ll agree that was life changing all by itself.

And now, Ryan has added another dimension to the Law of Attraction that ramps up how fast you can manifest anything you want into your life.

Play Blackjack And Win

As a dealer in a casino, I get to see people win and lose money on a daily basis. I often get asked advice on how to play many of the games that I deal and more often I get asked how to win. In Blackjack in particular, I get asked constantly how to win. Well I don’t have a foolproof way to win every time, I do have advice that will help you cut your losses tremendously. Don’t play the game for money without understanding the game.

The city of Las Vegas, especially the Las Vegas strip, is a shrine to the power of gambling without strategy. What do you think builds those exciting casino resorts? Its the people who go there, don’t understand the games they’re playing and walk away with empty wallets.

Most people walk up to the game of blackjack and think it’s basically 50/50 odds, you basically win or lose. While technically on each hand, that is true, your bet will either, win or lose or tie, but it’s the rules of the game that alter the odds and give the casino (called the “house”) over you as the player. For example, you must always play out your hand before the house plays out its own hand. If you bust, you automatically lose and the house doesn’t have to play out its hand.

Arrival Brings The Best ABBA Tribute Show To Anaheim

Ryan Cameron Meets Arrival in Anaheim, October 12, 2008On October 12, 2008, I had the opportunity to catch Arrival for the second time when they were performing at The Grove, in Anaheim. This time it was Arrival without the Austin Symphony Orchestra like the week before.

Prior to the show I met up with Los Angeles area ABBA fans, Rod, Fiona, and Pepe. We all met up before hand at the Virgin Megastore, nearby at The Block shopping center. It seemed to be an ideal meeting place with a few options to pick for dinner. We ended up getting a table at the TGI Friday’s restaurant that was in the outer rim of the mall parking lot.

By the time we made it over to the venue we had a small line to deal with at the box office for the will call tickets. The line was being held up by some guy who bought the premium tickets which included a dinner before the show, but he didn’t know it included the dinner and was trying unsuccessfully to get a credit back due to his inability to show up on time for the dinner. In the process of his arguing with the lady in the will call booth, he caused a lot of people behind him, including us, to miss the opening song. It was a good way through “Hey, Hey, Helen” before we were finally in the building and shown to our seats. Surprisingly the seating in the venue was very reminiscent of Las Vegas style showroom seating with tables basically designed for dining, but really lousy for looking at the stage. Despite the shortcoming of the venue layout, we weren’t there for that, we were there to see Arrival!

Marketing Tutorials To Build Your Online Business

A number of months ago, something interesting
happened…

Over a 2-4 week period, one particular blog
became extremely popular attracting hundreds
of thousands of unique visitors.

So why was it so popular?

The answer is simple…

The blog contained something people wanted.

In fact, they wanted it so bad that many people came back again and again.

You see, the person who owned the blog was publishing some very valuable information but he was doing it in a very unique way.

It wasn’t some boring post or report.

It wasn’t even an image or audio training.

The thing that grabbed people’s attention were these step-by-step videos.

I know what you are thinking…

“I can see videos all over the web – what’s the big deal?”.

Well, they were a big deal because they were an inside view of this person’s $15 million dollar business.

Essentially he was showing people step-by-step exactly what he is doing in his business with these videos.

In fact, you can see one of them here:

Duffy Rocks San Diego

Last night Duffy opened her US tour in San Diego at Humphrey’s By The Bay. She’s on a four week tour headlining across the US and along for the ride is her opening act, Eli “Paperboy” Reed. Personally I wish I had shown up late because I thought Eli “Paperboy” Reed was absolutely terrible. I spent most of his performance chatting with some people online via my cellphone as a way to pass the time since the music was just flat out awful.

Fortunately, Duffy more than made up for the fact her opening act should have been left at home. Like her music, which sounds like it really should be from an era long past, she came out wearing a striped white and navy blue mini-dress that certainly wouldn’t have looked out of place a few decades past (albeit a little shorter than probably would have been appropriate then). She was just so cute. Even the her pronunciation of “San Diego” was cute as she pronounced San with the a sounding as you would pronounce the word “lawn” as opposed to how San Diegans pronounce it more like the a in “fan.”

Duffy commented how beautiful the venue was with the palm trees and overlooking the bay. She even told a little story about how at the sound check she saw some ducks walking through the seating area and commented how back home in Wales, she’d be more likely to see sheep crossing through instead. Go See Arrival – The Best ABBA Tribute Band Ever

Arrival is an ABBA Tribute Band that originates from Sweden. They are currently touring the US in a show entitled “The Music of ABBA Featuring Arrival” and I just had the pleasure of seeing them Saturday night in Austin, Texas where they performed with the Austin Symphony Orchestra. And Arrival were absolutely amazing. They definitely earn the title of best ABBA tribute band in the world that my friends at the headquarters of ABBAMAIL.com have bestowed upon this tribute band.

I was so moved by their performance that I opted to write about their show for my October column for ABBAMAIL.com and if you want to read a more in depth review of my experience, click here to read my ABBAMAIL column. If you want just a nutshell version, just keep reading here.

While there are many ABBA tribute bands out there, the one thing you’re guaranteed is a chance to see a bunch of people dress up in costumes and perform a concert of ABBA songs. However, the quality of that experience varies greatly. There are some very good ABBA tribute bands (such as Arrival and Waterloo) and some very bad ABBA tribute bands (such as Björn Again).
